Grosvenor Teacher Fellow Program
Program Description
National Geographic Education Programs (NGEP) and Lindblad Expeditions announce the 2010 Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship program. This professional development opportunity, named in honor of National Geographic Society Chairman Gil Grosvenor, will give K-12 educators the opportunity to travel aboard the National Geographic Explorer in the Summer of 2010 to Arctic Svalbard. Through this program, teachers will be actively engaged in finding new ways to bring geographic awareness and ocean stewardship to their classrooms through a field-based experience.
Details
In 2010, six teachers will be selected as Grosvenor Teacher Fellows. Teachers chosen will have demonstrated dedication in their teaching field and show promise of continued active engagement in the future. In small groups of two, the selected Fellows will join other travelers aboard the Lindblad Expeditions flagship, National Geographic Explorer, in Arctic Svalbard on select “Land of the Ice Bears” expeditions. Departure dates will be selected from the following: June 25, July 2, July 16, July 23. All voyages are 11 days/9 nights, including travel time and pre-/post-trip stays on shore. Total time on the ship is seven days. For a complete description of the expedition, visit www.expeditions.com/polarbear.
